Kimbo Slice is not a disappointment

October 2nd, 2009

I should probably add “to me” at the end of the title. There is no doubt many are disappointed with Kimbo as following this week’s TUF episode I saw a whole new round of Kimbo hate start to circulate. I am far from a Kimbo Slice nuthugger, but I am left a little confused at this point by some of the Kimbo Slice hate going around. There is no doubt Kimbo’s performance wasn’t amazing, but was there any real reason to expect it to be?

Make no mistake about it, I am very disappointed. I’m disappointed with some promoters, I’m disappointed with some sites and I’m really disappointed with some “fans”. Overall though, I really don’t see a reason to be disappointed by Kimbo.

Instead of just blindly bashing on Kimbo I’d like to take an honest look at his career thus far and see why Kimbo Slice is overrated.

MMA Ranking System – For Beginners

September 23rd, 2009

It never ceases to amaze me how little accurate information some people need to start opening their mouths. The amount of wrong information I see regarding the MMA rankings on this site and the ranking system used are insane. How about we wipe the slate clean and start from the very beginning…

Inside the rankings 090920

September 20th, 2009

The site is now updated with several recent events. In looking over the rankings I noticed a few things that stood out to me and thought I might explore them in a bit more detail. Usually if something jumps out at me then I figure others have questions as well.

Do keep in mind that everything on this site is there for a reason, so if I don’t address a specific question you have, please feel free to ask.

Brock Lesnar MMA Career BTN

September 16th, 2009

Brock Lesnar is one of the most polarizing fighters in the history of Mixed Martial Arts. It seems almost everyone either loves him or hates him. What makes Brock’s case so interesting (frustrating?) is that many don’t seem to care what he actually does in the ring. Some people have hated/hugged him since before he had his first fight and they show no signs of budging from their current stance.

My goal with this rant is to hopefully provide some information that might otherwise go overlooked. If you hate Brock, then I’m sure you’ll find information here that further proves he sucks. If you love Brock, then I’m sure you’ll find information below that helps explain how he’s already better than Zeus. Really though, this rant is for those that fall somewhere between hater and hugger. For those people that want to take an honest look at what he’s done thus far, and how it compares to others.

By Request

September 13th, 2009

As a general rule I assume people are happier when I’m not talking versus when I’m ranting/raving. Apparently even this rule has exceptions because I’ve received e-mails lately asking where the next rant is. When I inquired as to what people wanted me to rant about specifically I got a couple requests for “whatever”. That is a very dangerous request, but one that I shall honor none the less. What follows is several minutes of freestyle ranting about whatever pops into my head from sentence to sentence.

You’ve been warned…

This is for my haters

August 27th, 2009

I’ve said it before, but one of the things (aside from fur and claws) that really sets me apart from most people is that I enjoy being proven (PROVEN…with a *P*) wrong. To go to bed better than I woke up is a great thing in my opinion. As an added bonus, being “proven” wrong on something feels like winning a game against the team in first place because not only did I “learn” something (which is +1/2), but I also no longer have something “wrong” (that’s another +1/2!).

I emphasized the word proven above because it seems to be the major sticking point in many discussions I’ve had of late. Some people believe they can simply say, “YOUR WRONG!!!” (spelling intended for extra irony…if I spelled it right and made this comment in error, then there is the extra irony!) and that will suffice.

Others think they can say something, be proven wrong, and just keep saying it. In real life it’s even worse because people tend to just say the same exact thing, but ~L~O~U~D~E~R~~! because obviously the reason I didn’t agree the earth was flat is because I have an acorn in my ear and couldn’t hear their detailed analysis (IT’S FUCKING FLAT MOTHER FUCKER~!!!!). Ah yes, it’s flat, that explains it, answers my questions, rebuts my facts and wittily attacks my Oedipus issues, well played!

As silly as it might seem to dedicate an entire rant to the audience least likely to read (understand? accept?) it, I’m going to give it a go.

Hater Vs Nuthugger

August 25th, 2009

If you are not “pro-life” then you are “pro-death”!

I’ve heard the argument and I even know people that believe it. In MMA it is usually more a case of “If you don’t ‘nuthug’ then you ‘hate’”.

It seems almost every rant I’ve written at this point has gotten me labeled either a nuthugger or a hater. Some rants have actually gotten me labeled both. Obviously, this doesn’t only happen to me. These days it seems almost impossible to have an honest, *FACTUAL* discussion about a fighter without someone feeling the need to label every person involved as either a nuthugger or a hater. Let’s take a look at haters and huggers in a bit more detail and then test the waters a bit.

The MMA Math Compendium

August 19th, 2009

MMA Math (MMATH) is a widely ridiculed “system” used by some fans; sometimes unintentionally. Although its flaws are well documented the benefits are often overlooked. Let’s take a look at how the “system” works, explain why it fails, and then look at some of the benefits.

The Strikeforce card is in the books, and the site is finally updated(a few days late, sorry I’m so slow!). I’m going to discuss a few things from the card and respond to random things from around the web.
