Post UFC 116 Site Update

July 7th, 2010

Lots of things are going on with the site, so I thought I’d take a couple minutes to mention a few things.

Brock Vs Carwin Recap

July 4th, 2010

It always amazes me that I can watch a fight as it happens, step away to clear my head, come back to watch the fight a second time, and then still not see what some other people see.

Obviously personal tastes can skew things, but here’s what I saw…

UFC 116 Predictions

July 3rd, 2010

Lots of people are making predictions about the winner of Brock Vs Carwin. I felt they had that pretty well covered, so I thought I’d take a minute to predict the outcome of the eventual fight outcome.

Time for a quickie?

June 26th, 2010

How goes it?

OK, enough foreplay!

Data Update

The data update just pushed was the largest since the site went live…by a LOT. Literally thousands of events and fighters added.

Despite my best efforts I know some duplicate information still remains, for example…

Feijao

and

Britt

both appear to get credit for beating the same person twice. I’m trying to remove all duplicate fighters, so please drop a note on the forums if you see such cases. A simple note about the two fighters and which should stay and which should go will be sufficient.

Site Update

It doesn’t look like much, but I got some wallpaper samples, some paint swatches, I consulted with a couple Feng shui experts. (FUNG–SHWAY, yeah that’s how it’s spelled, google it if you don’t believe me).

Once I get the data all cleaned up, then I’ll get the site’s appearance all cleaned up. Hooray for substance over style (unless you are a hot redhead, then you can be as deep as a thimble and I won’t care).

And boom goes the dynamite

Phew. Two months apart, two minutes back together. I think if more of my relationships had that kind of ratio they would have lasted longer.

I’ll probably have an update Monday or Tuesday with tonight’s event and whatever updated information people are able to provide me.

Don’t forget to leave the money on the dresser on the way out…

An attempt at speed ranting…

February 15th, 2010

Due to recent time constraints I’ve found myself in the annoying position of having more to rant about with less time to actually rant. That led me to pondering whether it’s possible for me to rant faster. Often while ranting I veer off on a tangent for several paragraphs before (occasionally) returning to the point.

My biggest fear is that by speedranting I’ll cross a fine line between ranting and raving. If I do cross such a line, please pretend this rant was called, “An attempt at speed raving” and that it was a huge success.

Hybernation 2009 draws to a close

January 23rd, 2010

YYYYAAAAWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNN

*sniff sniff…scratch scratch* OK I’m awake…what more do you want from me?

I hope everyone had a happy whatever they celebrated and accomplishes anything they have recently decided to do! (PC enough?)

As long as I don’t hit the snooze button and go back to sleep for another few weeks I’ll be doing a lot of updating (and a bit of ranting) over the next few days. Year end events (and the first few from this year) are updated and ready to go live.

MMA Strength of Schedule – Big Game Hunter

December 8th, 2009

Strength of Schedule in MMA seems to be a topic of increasing popularity. By far the biggest problem I see when MMA fans try to discuss Strength of Schedule though is that the people aren’t all talking about the same stat. I’ve discussed Strength of Schedule for MMA fighters before, but feel each approach should get its own write-up.

TUF 10 Finale – Recap

December 6th, 2009

Wouldn’t it be nice to have an event where after it’s done we just talk about wins and losses? Here it is the day after the ultimate fighter finale and at best the winner of the season is the number three story. Seems kind of silly to me, so I’m going to start off talking about the winner…
