It’s no surprise that lots are talking about Fedor Vs Hendo and Fedor’s legacy right now. What is surprising is how many people still miss one of the most important things when talking about Fedor and his legacy…
Fedor’s Legacy
July 31st, 2011MMA Rankings, Early Stoppages, Cruz Vs Faber
July 3rd, 2011The site is updated and I still have some soda left, so I figured I might as well rant a little bit…
Three Companies
May 26th, 2011No, not Three’s Company. Though, speaking of tv, there are a lot of good episodes that deal with the number three…
- House: Three Stories
- Criminal Minds: 3rd life
If you haven’t seen both of those at least three times each, then you have better things to be doing than reading this rant!
For those that are still here, have you ever noticed that a lot of people are really just a moderately shaken and jumbled result of their life experiences?
I don’t claim to be an exception, so I figured I’d take a little time to tell you a story that helped cause me. The story does have to do with companies (though more than three), and towards the end I’ll actually try to bring some MMA into this.
As a semi-classic disclaimer, please note that the names have been changed to protect the stupid.
Strikeforce Bought by Zuffa
March 12th, 2011Obviously a lot of chatter is going on about the announcement that Zuffa has purchased Strikeforce. I think this leads to a lot of interesting talking points, but as usual I think there are some things getting ignored/mis-stated/etc.
Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Fear
March 8th, 2011Recently while discussing the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix I mentioned that my biggest fear was a fighter getting caught and people losing their minds about it.
With all of the heavy hitters involved in the tourney it’s very likely we’ll see a lot of fights not make it to the judges (yay!). It’s nice to avoid the risk of bad judging whenever possible, but the high finish rates for these fighters also makes the fight outcome a lot more volatile. For that reason it’s important to keep in mind that just because a fighter landed their finisher first doesn’t mean the other fighter is a can or overrated.
Let’s take a look at just how devastating all of the fighters in the tourney are and why even a decision loss against any of these guys might be considered an achievement.
Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix
March 3rd, 2011For years the heavyweight division has been one of the ugliest in terms of rankings. You had a situation where the highest overall rated fighter in MMA sat atop the division with one of the lowest average ratings. The situation came about largely due to organizational lines, injuries and occasionally questionable matchmaking.
Thankfully the situation seems poised to improve in the coming months. Strikeforce has announced a grand prix containing several of the top ranked heavyweights in the world. Let’s take a look at where the fighters involved currently stand and how things might look following the tourney.
Damn it’s dusty in here
December 18th, 2010Testing…
Test 1, 2…
Mic check!
I’m in what I pray are the final stages of the data update from hell. I honestly don’t think it took me this long to get the site online in the first place. /boggle
Post UFC 116 Site Update
July 7th, 2010Lots of things are going on with the site, so I thought I’d take a couple minutes to mention a few things.
Brock Vs Carwin Recap
July 4th, 2010It always amazes me that I can watch a fight as it happens, step away to clear my head, come back to watch the fight a second time, and then still not see what some other people see.
Obviously personal tastes can skew things, but here’s what I saw…
UFC 116 Predictions
